Petra Totten

Petra Totten is a Vanier Scholar working in nonfiction film and video. Her work has won awards at the Emmys and InsideOut, and has been screened at festivals and galleries across Europe, Asia, and North America.

Petra holds a BA ’18 in Media Arts Studies, an MFA ’21 in Documentary Media, and is pursuing a PhD in Cinema Studies at the University of Toronto. Currently available for production and post-production work, Petra is actively working on a short docuseries on the Divine Feminine, as well as a number of forthcoming publications. Her work is exploratory in nature, seeking to highlight the beauty in lived experience; utilizing the essay film form and visual anthropology to represent communities in ways grounded in care and mutual respect.
