Kellie Pickler, American Idol Season 5 finalist and one of country music's hottest new stars is joining the Sandy Amphitheater summer line-up. After touring with both Brad Paisley and Rascal Flatts to sold-out crowds, and recently winning an amazing three fan based Country Music Television Awards, Pickler brings her own high-energy show to Sandy. Pickler's debut album, Small Town Girl, was certified Gold just three months after its release and so far the album has yielded three top 15 singles. The first song, the sassy 'Red High Heels,' went top 15 and earned co-writer Pickler the honor of one of the most played songs of 2006-07. The deeply personal, 'I Wonder,' the song she wrote about her mother, was her next hit and her performance of it on the CMA Awards was one of the highlights of the evening. Pickler's current smash, 'Things That Never Cross A Man's Mind,' is rapidly rising up the charts and during her first USO Tour overseas in December found it to be a favorite among the U.S. troops in Iraq. Working on her next album, Pickler has recorded several songs that she has written and hopes to have the first single from the new project out in May. A new album should be ready by late summer or early fall.

I attended this show on Friday night, and was very impressed with how the show was staged. I was very nervous when I heard "concert" but it was simple, and yet very effective. The orchestra sounded remarkable, and the cast extremely talented. By far one of the best shows that Sandy Arts Guild has put on. Kudos to the Director for being so brave and simplifying such a big show. Collapse
